The City of Sioux Falls estimates food waste contributes to 15 to 20 percent of the regional landfill’s total waste. That’s a lot of growing potential buried and left unused! SoDak Compost aims to use that waste to produce enriching compost for growing spaces in Sioux Falls.

The pilot project will allow participants to sign-up for a share of an aerated compost bin, collect food scraps in a provided receptacle, and drop off food scraps at designated weekly times. When the bin is full, the batch will be aerated and finished compost will result in about 1 month’s time.
